You are cordially invited to participate in one of the region’s largest photo competitions of the year from April 18-20, 2008! The Hocking Hills State Park will host the 7th annual "Shoot the Hills" Photography Competition Weekend, where more than $7,000 in prizes will be awarded. The prize distribution will include a bonus of at least $500 cash to two Grand Prize winners (Film and Digital)! The highlight of the weekend is a 24-hour photo contest encompassing four Ohio counties: Hocking, Athens, Fairfield, and Vinton. Fifty-nine (59) winners will be named, including six (6) in a “Junior Division.” A separate “Film Division” and “Digital Division” will be open for all ages. All activities are open to the public free of charge, although a $35 registration fee (or $30 for pre-registration) is required to enter the contest. The weekend also includes vendors, photography programs, special speakers, nature hikes, plus a unique photo opportunity with birds of prey by the Hocking Hills State Park Naturalist. In Film Division and Junior Film Division, the entry fee includes one roll of 35mm slide film and processing. Cameras are not supplied. In the Digital Division, the entry fee includes one CD for burning entries. Computers are not supplied. NOTE: Digital photographers are required to shoot in a camera RAW mode, and must bring their own memory card. They must also have the capability to view, edit, select, and burn their entries onto a CD. Computers will not be available, but a CD will be provided to each digital contestant. (For more information see the Digital Division Guidelines Addendum.) The event will again be held at the Hocking Hills Dining Lodge on SR 664 South in Logan (formerly the Hocking Hills Park Office). This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park and in part by a grant from Hocking Hills Tourism Association. We hope that you will
join us this year!
